C or Z? Getting It Right
C purlins or Z purlins: what is the difference?
C purlins are common for simple, single spans and are easy to fix. Z purlins can be lapped over supports, which helps on longer, continuous runs such as large warehouse roofs. Your engineer or drawings decide which is right.
How far apart should purlins be?
Spacing depends on the roof sheet, its thickness, the wind exposure and the purlin size. Follow your engineer's drawings or the sheet manufacturer's guidance; we can check your layout against the materials you choose.
Why are sag rods needed?
Sag rods stop long purlins twisting or sagging between rafters, keeping the roof line straight and the sheets properly supported.
Galvanised or painted purlins?
Galvanised or zinc aluminium coated purlins resist rust far better in Sri Lanka's humid and coastal air, especially where the frame is open to the weather.
Structural sizes must follow your engineer's design. We can price from your drawings or materials list.
